The presentation is to help Public Safety Officers who work with children on a regular basis (DARE Officers, School Resource Officers, etc…) assist children who experience loss through death. Every day in throughout the country Public Safety Officers work with children as part of their regular duties.
When a child losses someone due to death caused by accidents, illness or intentional acts (homicide or suicide) they may seek out an Officer to help them deal with that aftermath. The training will help the Officer relate to the child and give some tools the Officer can use assist the child through the effects of the loss.
